Is it Friday? We think it’s Friday. It probably is, since I’m pretty sure that yesterday was Thursday, and today feels particularly “good”, if you know what I mean.
Whatever day of the week it is, it looks particularly nice out. Perfect weather to gaze at through a window during loading screens of whatever game you’ve decided to pass the time with this week.
For me, there’s been a continuing diet of Animal Crossing: New Horizons, where I’ve made a killing on the Stalk Market this week thanks to friendly internet people. However, I’ve been trying to reduce my time on AC a bit, and so have diversified for the first time in weeks to review Spyder on iOS and Good Job! on Switch. Both were decent, but with a handful of flaws.
First to pipe up this week was Tuffcub, who’s been playing something other than Destiny 2 and can now tell us all what it was. If you’ve been paying attention to our features this week, you’ll have spotted a glowing review of Final Fantasy VII Remake from TC, in what is a defining example of a remake done right.
Aran’s looking forward to a weekend of Yakuza 3 Remastered, but before he got to that he’s finished off the enjoyable Greedfall and played a fair bit of Call of Duty: Warzone with his brother, cousin and friends. “The LMG is my go to as I’m getting a nice number of kills per match with that. Managed to sneak into one room and open fire, taking out 6 players.”
Similarly in anticipation of a new game, Nic was crushing Persona 5 Royal to snatch its platinum trophy and be able to jump on Final Fantasy VII just as the clock struck midnight. He’s also trying to finish his Theros Mastery in MTG Arena before that ends next week. Will he make it? The bank holiday will certainly help.
Gamoc has had a far less enjoyable week, as he reviewed The (not so) Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing III, while we’re waiting for his verdict on Throw Anything. His go to during the lockdown is Minecraft though, where he’s branch mining for diamonds, but that’s been supplemented by Beat Saber and COD Warzone.
Steve finished off Vampire The Masquerade: Coteries of New York, “which is a silly title but an enjoyable visual novel take on the tabletop RPG,” but largely savoured being able to run through Resident Evil 3 for the first time. It’s “a very different experience to 2 and perhaps a little short but designed for repeat plays to get the completion time down so will be diving back in soon.”
Nick is well ahead of him though, as he raced through an S Rank on Inferno difficulty in just 80 minutes to snatch the platinum. Aside from that it’s been Animal Crossing and Warzone, as per usual.
Trying to get his personal YouTube channel off the ground, Reuben has been playing Bravely Default II Demo Ver., while chipping away at Final Fantasy XIV and Animal Crossing’s Bunny Day event.
And finally, Dom has been supplementing his empowered escapism in Animal Crossing with a return to his teenage years and Panzer Dragoon Remake.
Now then, what have you been playing this past week?
