Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart zany weapons and new moves revealed in new trailer

We’re almost ready for the Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart launch party, and so Insomniac has released a new trailer for the game to showcase its many wonderful weapons and traversal options. It’s time for Zurkon Jr.’s Almost Launch Party trailer.

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart will launch exclusively on PS5 on June 11th, 2021.

Zurkon Jr. hosts the trailer and, much like his papa, is all about massive weaponry and explosions. Also some traversal. There’s plenty of crazy weaponry to be found in the new game, from Ratchet & Clank staples like the Buzz Blades, to new weaponry like the Blackhole Storm and Negatron Collider. Also shown of were The Enforcer, Lightning Rod, Cold Snap, and Ricochet.

Each of the weapons in the game will make use of the DualSense controller’s adaptive triggers, letting you pull the trigger all or halfway for specific weapons to unleash alternate fire modes.

Then there’s the traversal options. Ratchet (and Rivet) can get around the world with all sorts of platforming techniques, such as wall-running, using the Rift Tether to zip to rifts in the world, or the newly-revealed Phantom Dash, which can dodge and phase through enemy attacks.

Zurkon Jr. will be back in another trailer that promises a reveal of “planetary proportions-aaaaah”. We assume this means it will showcase the game’s planets?

We recently met Rivet properly in a 15 minute-long gameplay trailer that revealed her mysterious character and more of the alternate dimension world of Rift Apart.

Every Ratchet & Clank game ranked from worst to best

Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart isn’t far away from release, and some more details have slipped out in recent weeks. Players will have a choice between an option 60fps mode that lowers the game’s resolution to below 4K, or a 4K mode with all the fancy pants ray traced visuals at their highest quality, but at 30fps.

Reports from typically reliable sources suggest that the Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart download will be 42 GB in size. Having recently gone gold, fans can start pre-loading the game from June 4th.
