The February 2022 Nintendo Direct was a busy 40 minutes of game announcements and updates. There’s a mixture of new and old, of previously announced and big surprises like Mario Kart… 8 DLC! Here’s all of the announcements:

Fire Emblem Warriors: Three Hopes is set in the Three Houses world, but will blend that with Warriors gameplay and tell a new story. The game is out for Nintendo Switch on 24th June 2022.

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is coming out on 8th April.

Football’s back on the menu for Mario Strikers: Battle League Football, with new powers, new football armour and online multiplayer. It’s out on June 10th.

No Man’s Sky is coming to Nintendo Switch!

Front Mission 1st: Remake revives the classic tactical mech series this summer, with promise of a remastered sequel to follow.

Kirby can eat a car in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Well, he can kind of eat a car.

This HD remaster of Chrono Cross will arrive on Nintendo Switch on 7th April.

KLONOA: Door to Phantomile and Klonoa 2: Lunatea’s Veil are coming to Nintendo Switch on on July 8.

The PlayStation cult classic Live A Live is being remade with all its protagonists, time periods and different gameplay styles now rendered in HD-2D graphics. It’s out on 22nd July.

The Wii Sports waggle is back with Nintendo Switch Sports. It’s out in April with six sports included, and a seventh coming later this year, but if you want to try it early, then there’s an online playtest in just a couple weeks.

Earthbound and Earthbound Beginnings (better known by its Japanese title Mother) are on Nintendo Switch Online… tonight!

There’s a new demo for Triangle Strategy featuring the first three chapters of this tactical RPG. You’ll be able to take your progress through to the full game as well!

The Portal Companion Collection brings Valve’s classic action puzzler to the Switch later this year.

Zombie Army 4 rises on the Switch in April.

A whopping 48 tracks from games past are being remade and ported in this Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Booster Course Pass. It’s being bundled in with Nintendo Switch Online: Expansion Pack as well.

Xenoblade Chronicles 3 will be coming to Nintendo Switch in September

  1. That Portal announcement might just be the cherry on top for cancelling my Steam Deck order. After Metroid and Arceus, the Switch has certainly had a recent resurgence in my gaming time!

  2. Why is Klonoa getting a remaster? (Also coming to platforms other than the Switch). It was a decent enough game all those years ago, but nobody was begging for a remake, were they?

    Although, I’ve just discovered that a PS1 copy goes for a silly price these days. Anything from £100 to £200?? Might have to dig out the box of PS1 games and see if it’s still there.
