Something for the Weekend – 19/03/22

Stranger of Paradise Final Fantasy Origins Review Header

It’s a lovely, sunny spring day in the UK, and a big one for sports fans. Obviously there’s a fair bit of football happening, but it’s also the final weekend of the Six Nations with France going for a Grand Slam against England, and we’ve got the opening race of the Formula 1 season with almost no clues as to who has got their car right for the new era of regulations.

Of course, the real world news continues to be dominated by the war in Ukraine, and there’s a fresh way for gamers to help. Humble Bundle has drawn together partners both big and small to create a huge bundle that’s worth over $2,500 and features 123 games, books, and pieces of software. Head here to find out about the Stand with Ukraine bundle.

Games in Review

In some ways it feels like we’re taking a little breather after a busy couple months of huge game releases. We still had the Chaos-filled action of Stranger of Paradise, and the potential redemption arc for WWE 2K22 to look at, though.

Do they fit the Mario Kart 8 aesthetic and playstyle?

There was also a pair of previews this week. Nick P is working on our review, but got to share some early thoughts on Ghostwire: Tokyo, and Dom went hands on with Redout 2, the next big thing in anti-grav future racing.

Finally, we had What We Played, which featured Elden Ring, Tunic and GTA 5.

And finally for this round-up, we come to… you!

  • PoorPaddy89 has beaten the final story boss in Elden Ring having spent every moment possible playing the game since launch. Now there’s just a bit of cleaning up to do and a challenging optional boss, but they’ve “really enjoyed it as my first Soulsbourne experience.”
  • willbuchanan got the platinum for Lego Indiana Jones 2 on PS3, while also also playing Everybody’s Golf on PS4. Probably not at the same time, but maybe?
  • And hornet1990 has been turned off from gaming over the last few weeks, but has now booted up the BioShock remaster and got through to Arcadia. “The story and environment is definitely holding my interest so far.”

That’s it for this week’s gaming round-up. Have a great weekend, and we’ll catch you again next week.
