Something for the Weekend – 11/05/24

If you’re a fan of motorsports, this weekend is a great time to see if the World Endurance Championship is for you. It’s the 6hrs of Spa today – starting at midday in the UK – with a now bustling field of Hypercar teams having to weave through the GT3 class competitors, and this iconic track will act as a prelude to the 24hrs Le Mans next month. I love seeing all these cars going flat out for hours at a time, the contrasting strategy calls and reactions to incidents.

The world of video games has been shaken by another surprise heel turn by Microsoft this week, so let’s see what the headlines have been.

Games in Review & Featured Articles

It was almost exclusively lucky numbers in our reviews for the week.

With the closure of Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austine, I asked Xbox, do you even have a plan anymore? The entire business seems to be in flux after a string of twists and shocks over the past six months.

I joined Nick for a dive into Killer Klowns from Outer Space, but let him take the lead on sharing our thoughts on this latest 80s film turned asymmetrical horror game. IllFonic know what they’re doing, and this looks a fun twist on the genre.

And Jim delved into the STALKER: Legends of the Zone Trilogy on console, which isn’t truly console native, but has plenty compelling reasons to explore ahead of the sequel later this year.

Rounding things out as always, What We Played featured Fallout 4, Homeworld 3 & Killer Klowns

Your Gaming & Achievements

Here’s what you in our community have been up to this week:

  • Andrewww is starting to feel the repetition in Ghost of Tsushima, so he’s switched across to Sea of Stars… but got bored during the tutorial, then Last Stop, which is just interesting enough, and he’s picked up Vader Immortal VR in the sale.
  • And TSBonyman is still being held up from the Elden Throne, but is so close to the finish line. So he’s added a romp through Wolfenstein: The Old Blood and re-installed Cyberpunk 2077 to replay with all the post-launch enhancements.

That’s the round up for this week. We’ll be back next week for more gaming news and more. See you then!
