Something for the Weekend – 29/06/24

We’ll be halfway through the year at the end of the weekend, which is one of those “Where the fork did all the time go?” moments in life. Still, at least it’s not quite as hot as it was earlier in the week, so you can have this existential crisis without sweating buckets at the same time.

Let’s have a quick gander at what’s been happening in video games this week.

In the News This Week

Games in Review & Featured Articles

We had a whole ton of reviews, split evenly between the very, very good and the good.

Alongside the games, Dom reviewed the Victrix Pro BFG for PlayStation 5, which is just about his favourite gamepad at the moment.

Over in preview land, I went hands on with Nintendo World Championship: NES Edition and the speedrunning really got under my skin, and the opening hours of SteamWorld Heist 2 has a watery twist to it, but the same great side-scrolling turn-based tactical action as the original.

Rounding things out as always, What We Played featured Beyond Good and Evil, Diablo 4 and Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD.

Your Gaming & Achievements

Here’s what you in our community have been up to this week:

  • TSBonyman shook off the early jitters from facing a new challenge in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree and dealt with all but one of the bosses in the first map area. He’s having a grand old time.
  • And Andrewww has watching his daughter get spooked by Gone Home’s opening, before diving back into his playthrough of Ghost of Tsushima and trying out Dredge (which was just spooky enough for his son!).

That’s the round up for this week. We’ll be back next week for more gaming news and more. See you then!
