The Glide Guide – How to fly in Pokémon Pokopia and find Dragonite

Pokémon Pokopia header

It’s a great time when you first take to the skies in Pokémon Pokopia, letting you glide around and quickly get from place to place, but when, how and where does Ditto learn how to do this?

If you seen enough trailers and screenshots, you’ve probably spotted that Ditto copies a Dragonite in order to learn Glide, but where do you find Dragonite, and how do you convince them to teach you?

Beware: This is a late-game ability, so there are some slight spoilers in this guide!

Where to find Dragonite in Pokémon Pokopia

Dragonite is a Pokémon that you will find fairly late in the main story of Pokémon Pokopia, in the fourth region of Sparkling Skylands. This is a big region with multiple islands within. Thankfully, to find Dragonite, you just need to search for the habitat clue high up near the ruined Pokémon Center.

With this clue, you need to complete his habitat, adding Duckweed to a pool with a canoe in it. Give it a little while and Dragonite will show up with a rather unusual request…

What is Dragonite’s alarming quest?

Dragonite wants, wait for it, five alarm clocks. That’s pretty excessive if you ask me, but by this point, you should have the blueprint for an alarm clock and be able to craft them with iron ore at a workbench. Bring them back, place them by Dragonite’s habitat, and they should happily tech you how to Glide the next time you speak to them!

How to fly in Pokopia

Gliding is as simple as jumping from a ledge with ‘R’ and pressing ‘R’ a second time to transform into a Dragonite Ditto, you can fly faster by holding ‘B’ as well. To stop gliding, just press ‘B’ while you are stationary and you’ll fall to ground – don’t worry, you’re still a squishy Ditto and don’t take fall damage.

Glide isn’t quite like flying, as you can’t gain altitude after you’ve transformed and will very gradually descend, but you still have a lot of control and can float in place while looking around you.

Now that you’re in the late game, gliding is a great way of getting around each region quickly, exploring up high and looking down from above to see if there’s any secrets to spot. It’s also really great for getting around the separate islands of the Sparkling Skylands region!
