Sony has announced that age verification will be rolling out later this year for PlayStation users in both the UK and Ireland. Without age verification, PlayStation users will not be able to use any of the communication features, broadcasting features, and some in game features. You can see the announcement below.
“Age verification will be required later in 2026 for UK & Ireland adult accounts to access certain features. If you’re prompted, we recommend completing age verification to avoid interruptions later in 2026. We use age verification to deliver the best PlayStation experience for your age and to help protect our younger users.
“If you have not completed age verification, you can continue playing on PlayStation but communication features won’t be available until you do. To keep using communication, broadcasting, and certain in-game features without interruption, we recommend verifying your age now. Verify now or scan this QR code on your mobile device.”
The QR code mentioned above can be found here within the announcement and FAQ.
There are three different ways to verify your age to continue accessing the communication features. That includes a facial scan through third party company Yoti, using ID age verification with a passport, driving license, or national ID, or through mobile phone age verification. This last method checks your age that your mobile phone provider has on their records.
