Game Informer revealed the cover of their next magazine today, and they have had an exclusive play of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the prologue to the upcoming Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
“We had four hours of exclusive hands-on time with Ground Zeroes,” says Game Informer, continuing “which we used to play through the main mission and experiment with extra modes”. So, that’s four hours for the main story campaign and playing a few modes? That’s really not long at all.
What’s worse is that Kotaku are now reporting that the main mission is even shorter – Game Informer say within the latest issue of their magazine that they “completed it in just less than two hours”. Now, factor in Metal Gear Solid’s staple of long cutscenes and you’ve got a game that lasts about as long as the last cutscene segment in Metal Gear Solid 4. So, how much time of gameplay will that include?
Don’t forget that MGS V has a more open-world approach, so the side missions may be more substantial, but a less than two hour prologue including cutscenes is really disappointing.
Remember, they’re selling this for £30 on PS4 and Xbox One digitally, or the same on PS3 and Xbox 360 boxed. The last generation digital version will set you back a little less at £20, but it’s makes you wonder if they’re going to make an excuse to charge £100 for all of the content in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain when it releases.

A metal gear game that’s 2 hours bonkers! I’m guessing the only gameplay is when we push snake to walk forward then cut scenes is 1.50 mins

That’s shockingly bad if true, although I very much doubt it’s true. For one, They have said many times that GZ is also open world but on a smaller scale so I don’t think there will be just one main mission and not much else.

I think I’ll wait for a price crash or free on PS+ deal with this demo then. I’m glad I couldn’t preorder this. Shame really I was looking forward to it.
baska
think of it like Gran Turismo 5 Prologue
Phizzy
Prologue, not epilogue.
baska
as in sample of a game for a reduced price to get the taste buds going

My mistake!
baska

Shambolic.

Wow, that’s short. Not short compared to say the Tanker Chapter or Virtuous Mission, but short as its own release! I hope it makes it as a single dis release at some point, I think a lot of us would rather wait for that to get our value for money.

Right, definitely not getting this until things are cleared up. Surely it can’t be that short… Can it?

Disappointing but expected. We pretty much know the gist of what happens too, there has to be a big twist, has to be. If Hayter is voicing Big Boss, totally worth the price :P

I the biggest MGS fan. But even I’m perplexed.
