It has been awhile since we’ve heard any news about MvC3. It was a no show at E3 this year and that’s when I began to worry. The game has been completely overshadowed by Mortal Kombat. One game has already had three DLC characters while the other hasn’t had anything worth talking about [edit: outside of Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath – thanks, DrNate86 for reminding me].
It looks like that might change very soon. Capcom will be hosting a panel at Comic-Con on the 23rd to discuss the future of the franchise. Producer Ryota Niitsuma will be in attendance, so you know it’s going to be something worthwhile.
That’s not all. Capcom is also holding a panel on July 29th at EVO 2011, the biggest fighting game tournament in the US. Ryota Niitsuma will be joined by MvC3’s battle designer, Hidetoshi Ishizawa (also known as Neo_G), to discuss the fighting mechanics, future plans regarding character balance, and other topics relating to the series.
It’s unknown what exactly Capcom is going to announce in the coming weeks, but I’m expecting some sort of DLC. It seems like a no-brainer given the success and demand for more. Maybe we’ll finally get Mega Man in the game. Hopefully they’ll nerf X-factor and improve the online portion so that it has a spectator mode. It’s a shame that I won’t be at Comic-Con or EVO this year.

I thought there had been quite a bit of MvC3 DLC?
Delriach
Not anything worth mentioning really. There was one costume pack for 3 or 4 characters back when it first came out and there’s also the Shadow packs with AIs based on real players.
There’s also this unlock system for the event mode, but that again just changes the gameplay in minimal ways and doesn’t add anything of significance.

I thought there was a vote or something for some extra characters when it first came out?
Delriach
There was a lot of voting go on when the game was released. I’m sure Capcom has been looking at it. The biggest one was on their site actually.
DrNate86
I thought Jill Valentine and some tentacle porn thing were released as DLC?
Delriach
Ooooooh yeah, I forgot about that since it came free with the collector’s edition.
>_> Considering how much I talked about MvC3, you would think I would remember such a thing!

We could really do with some characters. Frank West for example or Cyclops.

I wish Capcom would not try and overcharge everything in this generation. First the DLC codes-only of RE5, then the endless versions of SFIV and the again numerous DLC, lastly the stupid inability of RE5-Mercenaries for 3DS which cannot reset..
In any case, i was not happy with MVC3…it only has one mode. Story Mode, the End, and that is not even a good one. Not worth my 69 euros and definetely the price of the DLC won’t be worth that much too…
Where is the old SSFII, DMC, RE3, RE4 Capcom? Where?!!?

Expect: a new ‘edition’ that could have easily done as DLC but will be brought out as a new ‘Game’

I am surprised that this game got a better review than MK in the first place. MK has so much more content and they already have 2 dlc’s out and 2 in progress. I played MVC3 and was bored very quickly with it. I was excited that they were going to release dlc for this game, and they have plenty of options for new fighters, but where are they?!? IMO already lost interest in this game unless they pick up the pace with there DLC! Until then, no use playing it. Besides I don’t miss the incredibly cheep combos that some people pulled off, half the time I just put the controller down and watched myself get beat bc I could not get a move in. Real Fun!
