We couldn’t resist this story as HD-DVD takes another hammer blow. Netflix, the online DVD rental service of choice when we lived over the pond, has announced that they are to drop HD-DVD support later this year.

Of course, the best part of this whole thing is that the HD-DVD zealots can now start a Netflix-specific online petition to try and get the company to change its mind. We think this will ultimately work in place of the clearly malfunctioning market economics. You know the ones of which we speak, the way no-one buys/rents HD-DVD and so everyone stops stocking it? Yeah, the petitions will put paid to that.
