We seem to have missed GamePro’s interview with Sony Marketing VP Scott Steinberg which was published last Friday. The interview’s pretty good, talking over the Blu-ray victory, PS1 downloads and of course, flavour of the month: Home. When asked about an update, Scott says ‘our bar is set high for Home, so we haven’t yet announced exposing more people to the beta. It would be a natural extension for us – you start small and broaden.

Seems like we’re still some way away from an open beta: ‘we are in that first stage still and learning lots and taking those lessons to the engineering side and making it as ready for prime time as it can be. We have high expectations so we are not looking to expose some of the early development until it is ready,‘ he goes on to say.

Naturally we all want Home as quickly as possible but chances are it is simply not yet ready for mass consumption in it’s current state, despite earlier stories. As soon as anything official appears regarding an open beta, we’ll let you know.
