TheGamingOwl recently reported strange goings-on in Home, specifically on the user PDAs, and has since blogged on more odd happenings. Clearly somebody forgot to uncomment some code, but it hasn’t stopped the internet jumping on the rumour bandwagon and declaring this to be something to do with Firmware 2.7. We remember the days when gaming journalism meant actually checking facts before publishing (and all this was just fields of grass) but seeing as we’re as guilty as anyone for just getting news out and checking it later, let’s let this one roll.

But no, this is nothing to do with Firmware 2.7 – and XI doesn’t stand for Cross Interface, but fun times are ahead. We like this, Sony, keep it up.

    I don’t know if you guys have seen this but after the red bull video in the home square a strange little video appears. There is definitly something going on here.

How do you know Nofi that it isnt anything to do with 2.7? How did you come to the conclusion that it wasnt for sure?

It looks more like a viral for an game they will be announcing soon. Can anyone think of any Sony owned franchise that will be coming up to it’s 7th title?

Why would they be hyping up a simple firmware update like this in Home. They didn’t even do that for 2.4 which was their biggest one so far…

BTW nofi, will you tell us when your secret piece of news is announced so we can all finally understand what you’re talkin about.

Been doing some googling, and I’m not sure what to think.

I’ve read that there was a FFXI sequel in development in 2006 for PS3/360, but not sure if it was released. Then I read that Squeenix was going to unveil it at E3 2009.

Doubt it’s anything to do with it, but it’s all I could find :(.

Please tell us? :(
