This weekend SEGA announced that the Xbox 360 version of Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing will feature you… well your avatar, as Microsoft continue to press home the advantage of having the Avatar system integrated with the OS.
This exclusive addition to the game will allow your Avatar to hop in to its “Avacar” and race along side Sonic and the other characters from the SEGA world. What you may not know is that each character has a unique special move called ‘All-Star’ move, when you’re racing as your Avatar the All-Star move sees Avatars from your friends list pick your vehicle up and race ahead.
The exclusive features for the 360 don’t stop there, because Rare’s Banjo and Kazooie will also be starring in the game along with their own special All-star moves. there is no word yet on whether the PlayStation3 version will have special features when the game is released in early 2010, in the mean-time can read TheSixthAxis’ early impressions of the title here.

You can do this in Mario Kart on the Wii can’t you? Seems pointless, I want to play games as the characters carefully developed by the people who are supposed to be the experts, not myself who is borderline retarded

Nice idea but it wont make me buy the game on the 360.
If I buy, it will be on PS3 as multiplayer is free.

Honestly I don’t see myself doing that even if I got it on the 360. Why would I want to see my avatar when there are better looking characters in the game. But whatever, another reason for the 360 fanboys to get a hard on.

i think it’s a great idea, wouldn’t be enough to buy this game on 360, if i was going to get it.
do sony even have the code for devs to access our avatars so they can use them in their games?
the total lack of any title featuring home avatars would seem to indicate that they don’t

Sixaxis preview of Sega racing said it plays better on PS3. Maybe Microsoft knew they were getting an inferior version so asked for extra content.

This look so pointlessly poor. For kart racing, it’ll always be Mario Kart for me, every other one is just a rip off of that.
Only Modnation has got me intrigued because of the track builder which will mean it’s instantly got 17 bajillion times more tracks than any other kart racer. In fact, within a month, it’ll have more tracks in it than all other racing games ever produced combined.

With Modnation Racers coming out, it’s probably not such a big deal for Sony. Better yet, I’m starting to see a pattern here. InFamous/Prototype, Modnation Racers/Sega Racing, God Of War 3/Dante’s Inferno, SingStar/Karaoke Revolution. Notice Sony is getting two of a kind?

Since it’s out in early 2010, i’ll probably just get Modnation Racers instead.
