The PlayStation Arc will see “around 10 or so” titles this year, according to a report on the device over on Nikkei.  The report, translated by AndriaSang, focuses on Sony and Microsoft’s plans to offer motion control games but doesn’t really go into any specifics although we’re assuming one title is EA Sports Active and another is the one PlayLogic are rumoured to be working on.

Official confirmation of the name Arc is still awaited from Sony, but we’re pretty sure it’s a done deal.  Now we just need to know what the games are.

  1. finding it difficult to be excited about this motion control stuff (stands with arms crossed)

    • lol me too, cant see the interest. but might be pleasantly surprised.

      • I’ve said from the start that I won’t be spending my money on it, or natal.

    • Probably a bit of both to be honest, LBP,motorstorm, and resi 5 have all had the treatment so far…

      • oops sorry, motorstorm has had the ’3D treatment’ not motion.(although it already has with the sixaxis)

  2. Will be really interesting, I look forward to it :)

    Come on Resi 5.

  3. They released the working titles of quite a few of the first party games around TGS i think, along with the games that would get patches to impliment the new controller. Then there’s Resi 5, EA sports active and Grand Slam Tennis?? (think thats the name, the EA one on Wii), which got delayed on PS3 and 360 to wait for the motion controllers.

    • There were about 10 new 1st party games listed come to think of it…

  4. Is this 10 first party games or all games?

  5. The thing that bothers me about motion control is that you just know every flippin game will have you making huge movements like a div. Why can’t someone make a game that uses small gestures? Now that be interesting to me.

    • You may be right, but I think that’s a notion that has been nurtured by the Wii and its early gesture-based technology, which wasn’t 1:1. I think with the PS Motion Controller we’d definitely see games implementing small gestures; but that’s hopeful thinking on my part.

  6. When will they give the name for this sodding thing? To be perfectly honest, I took a glancing look at a picture of this, and it looks a bit like a TV remote with a light bulb attached to the end of it if you’re not paying attention to the picture.

  7. It seems to me that to fully appreciate this motion stuff you’ll need your tv mounted on the wall at standing up head height. So no chance in me been able to do that.

    • Actually, thats exactly how I feel when Im playing on the Wii..  Because you (mostly) need to stand up to play, Im always looking down at the screen, which aches the neck after awhile.

  8. If they bundle the Arc with EA Sports Active, Ill definitely buy it, its great on the Wii..  Otherwise, I’ll need to see something pretty special and non-casual to get me on board.
