Confirming via its official EU Twitter account, the reduced PSN Store functionality European gamers have been experiencing due to ongoing technical issues have been now fully resolved. The update succinctly states:

“PSN Store issues have now been resolved. Thanks for your patience and sorry for the inconvenience.”

The issue first arose on May 5th, coincidentally the same day popular DLC for mega-hit Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 became available via download to PS3 users. Though not officially blamed on the increase in traffic as a result of the DLC’s release, reduced services ensued over the following days, with users asked to add funds to their wallets during off-peak times while Sony slowly ramped back up to full capacity. Increases to the number of transactions per second supported were introduced in phases.

As of yesterday morning, the PSN Store is accepting transactions at normal capacity again.

During the near week-long hiccup, users reported a variety of problems attributed to the issue such as purchased content not downloading correctly and other erratic online high-jinks.

The glitch only affected the PAL region: Europe, Scandinavia, Australia, New Zealand, UAE and South Africa.
