34Zipper Interactive are gauging MAG players’ attitude to paid DLC and a possible subscription model by posing some interesting questions in a new survey. Mentioning a new ‘Interdiction’ mode where 128 players made up from two factions would compete for control of three neutral objectives, two possible prices ($8.99 and $12.99) for the possible future DLC are up for debate.
Interestingly, the survey also looks for people’s opinion on the option of paying a small sum (.99c) per month to get immediate access to an extra character slot in the game. MAG famously locks in the player’s faction at the start of the character creation process, the chance to switch PMC sides only available when you reach level 60.
It should be noted that, though surveys are usually a good way of getting an insight into how a company might be thinking, they are inherently speculative by nature. In fact, the next question goes on to ask: “If this subscription product were available in MAG now, how would it affect your likelihood to continue playing MAG?”
Such inquisitive pondering could simply be Zipper seeking confirmation on what they already believe to be true: that no one in their right mind is going to pay a subscription to play MAG.
