Square Enix’s Shinji Hashimoto has just announced, via Twitter, that “a new promotion with Hideo Kojima is set.
Details will be shared at a later date.” This may well be one of the Square Enix’s many announcements they have planned for later this year, it could also mean we’re not far away from seeing the longest cut scene in the history of gaming.
At the moment there are no details about the game though the pair are pictured with Front Mission Evolved on the screen in front. It’s unlikely we’ll see anything of it at E3.

Haha. Maybe they should just cut their losses and make a film.

They should just make a MGS film and be done with games! MGS4 was a little to heavy on cut-scenes, not that i minded as it finished off the story nicely. but a new game with that many cut scenes would be a no go for me

I still haven’t finished it. I think somewhere buried on the disc is a stealth game but I haven’t found much of it yet.

its only a good game if you have played at least the other games release on PlayStation first. there are older games, but playing MGS1,2 and 3 is a MUST! Otherwise you will be bored as MGS4 is here purely to end the saga and to wrap up all the question marks. If you have a launch day PS3, grab the other games in a bargain bin some where, then hit MGS4 after. you will take the game in on a whole new perspective IMO.
Of course, if you have played the old games and still didnt like MGS4, then im stumped, as not finishing MGS4 is like watching 20 episodes of 24.(which i finished last night, top series! lol no more 24 :( ‘damit!’)

what do you suggest if one has no lauch PS3 or a PS2, wait for backwards compatability, or just crack on regardless?

i really would not advise playing MGS4 until you play the others…maybe find a cheap 2nd hand PS2 unit. they must only be £30ish now.

interesting…
well I really don’t think I’ll be getting a PS2 and then buying the games due to my current money and time situation.
I suppose I’ll see what has to be said at E3 and whether some kind of BC will arise (PSN+ etc. maybe?) if not I’ll have to read the synopsises on the web and BioEye’s ‘The Question Mark’ . Sacrilige, I know!

I’m sure i remember sony stating backwards compatibility will not be coming to ps3′s (other than launch models that have it built in) as it’s hardware that’s missing, making it impossible as obviously you can’t patch new hardware into a machine.

Wouldn’t the longest cutscene so far be Red Dead Redemption: The Man from Blackwater?
