5 Weeks since release, 5 weeks at the top of the charts – Red Dead Redemption is still going strong. Rockstar’s latest manages to hold off Mario for a second week and despite a fall in sales, the gap between the two top sellers on the All Formats chart widens to almost 5,000 units. So, with Marston and his lassoing, hogtying, duelling, horse-riding, law-infringing, herb-collecting, animal-skinning shenanigans still firmly at number 1, what else is happening in the charts?

UK PS3 Charts: Week ending 19th June:

FIFA World Cup 2010 is still hanging on to 2nd place as Prince of Persia climbs into the top 3 and International Cricket debuts at number 4. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 also reappears, jumping from 11th to 7th. ModNation Racers falls to its lowest position since release.

UK 360 Chart: Week ending 19th June:

No change in the top 4 this week but Prince of Persia jumps 5 spaces to round off the top 5. Battlefield: Bad Company 2 rises 8 places to number 6 whilst Split/Second also reappears to take 8th place. Green Day: Rock Band falls from the chart and Codemaster’s International Cricket fails to debut in the 360′s top 10.

  1. i still haven’t played rdr.
my brother’s got it on his lovefilm list though, hopefully i’ll be able to borrow it for a bit when he gets it.

  2. just purchased blur and rdr, both very good

prince of persia is doing well since form what ive seen its got bad reviews

    • PoP isn’t that bad its like the origional says my friend and he likes the game.

I’m glad its doing well!! ^^

    • It’s also been reduced everywhere i have seen it over the past week, which would go some way to explaining the climb.

      • if its like the original then i will like, yes its £25 in a lot of places now

  3. Just typical overated titles toping the charts

    • I don’t know, I think they’re all solid game titles within themselves, and they’re not over-rated. I mean they sell better than other games which are possibly more deserving of high accolades, but hey, that’s how the industry works.

  4. I find it interesting that for all the talk of exclusives, there is only one exclusive title on each platform in the top ten.

    • well spotted.

although thats just a fan boy thing i think… plus the “blockbusters” have already been and gone in the last financial year.

  5. I would have thought blur and split 2nd would be about even. I’m enjoying both fairly equally.

    • Split/Second enjoyed a couple of weeks before Blur even made it into the top 10 on some charts. Then Blur’s advertising campaign kicked in!

  6. C’mon Blur, I’ve said this for the past 3 weeks but I am so glad its doing well. It came out with little pre-release hype, so i wasn’t too sure what to expect but it’s an awesome game. Racing games have never been my cup of tea either but having played this and Grid recently I’m thinking I may have missed out on some great titles, Split/Second is next of the racing genre calendar of purchases, gotta do it quick before GT5 releases though

  7. MNR is slipping quickly.

    • Kinda sad, it really is a fantastic game, pretty much like Mario Kart but with customization.

I’m really enjoying it myself. :)

    • for good reason too.

after the careers done, what else is there to do? sure theres the customisation, but everyone has already made everything worth making! even if you do come up with something original you have to connect to the bloody servers!

      yeah i traded it in.

    • Load times are also killing it quickly – It’s what has stopped me from picking it up up til now. That need to ptch it & patch it fast!

  8. Still waiting for RDR :[

  9. how is MW2 still selling hasn’t everyone bought and sold it by now

  10. and GTA is gone :(
