In a dramatic turnaround, it appears that Japan will see a native release of Final Fantasy XIII on the Xbox 360. The game was previously exclusive to the PlayStation 3 over in the East, but a page on xbox.com that shows the game, with Achievements, would now suggest otherwise.
The page over at the Microsoft site clearly shows a list of Achievements, and as such lists almost always precede an official release announcement, it does indeed look like Square Enix’s celebrated RPG game has completely lost any exclusivity just seven months after its main worldwide release.
You can read our full, spoiler-free review of Final Fantasy XII here, in which Peter said the game was “unmissable” for RPG fans.

So looks like it was just timed ‘exclusive’
Cue derision…
Unless it’s different when Sony do something

Interesting, I didn’t think Sony was into the whole timed exclusive thing.
Maybe Square just realised they could potentially make a few thousand dollars more by releasing it on Xbox360?

Not gonna make a difference in Japan whatsoever. Just a complete guess but I bet most people who have gt a 360 there have also a PS3, and would of already bought the game if they’re interested in it.

I agree – FFXIII on 360 would have struggled to make a splash in Japan if released on the same day as the PS3 version (which from what I remember flew off the shelves), but releasing it 7 months on seems like a crazy waste of time/money.

Harumph! I thought it was very poor anyway, a victory of style over substance.
My love affair with Final Fantasy is fizzling into nothingness, sigh…

Oh, I thought the article was about Final Fantasy 14 until the very end. No big deal really, I’m sure 90% of people who want it already own it there.

Most people own it now anyway, it will not sell well on the 360 in Japan

Clearly there’s now enough demand for them to make a few yen selling it on 360.

no where near as many people in japan own an x box as a ps3 .i wonder how many own a ps3 aswell as an x box and if any of those who own both consoles wanted FF13 why would they have waited this long for the ported x box version that looks no where near as good as ps3 version.

I was pretty sure this would be a cast-iron exclusive. Now i wonder if Sony paid for this or if Squeenix just did it for some sort of favours possibly with FFXIV?

not many over there have 360′s to begin with, dont see it getting much in the way of sales from this.
Not to mention, it’s a poor excuse of a final fantasy, still havent picked it up. I keep buying RPGS lately, loving them. anything but XIII though. Right now I’m playing Persona 3 Portable. I just feel like “real” RPGS.
