Y’all remember the billboard, right - the one that ‘announced’ Insomniac were working on Resistance 3 practically before the PlayStation 3 was released? Oh, and the survey?
Well, despite a no-show from E3, a no-comment from Sony and a no-no-limits from 2 Unlimited, it appears that retailer eStarLand (picked up by an Examiner blog) thinks it’s coming, with a March 2011 date for comfort.
There’s even a boxart, although we suspect that as we’ve seen in the last 24 hours, it’s pretty damned easy for someone to fire up Photoshop and mock up a boxart.
“Continue the fight against the Chimera invasion in Resistance 3,” says the blurb under the rather ambitious ‘add to cart’ button, “as the battle moves to New York City and humanity makes its final stand.”
We’d email Sony for a giggle, but I’m desperately hoping they’ve got much better things to do than deal with this.

Nevermind, after Kovacs’ bit about the DC Voice-Actors it has been replaced by “The Ballad of Jayne”

Is March 2011 also the release date (thereabouts) for another certain high-profile PS3 exclusive? Seems funny for Sony to be planning to release two of it’s biggest games that close together.

…maybe (yes). It’s slated for a late February release. I’ve gotta treat this as bull.

I cannot expect Resistance 3 any time before Xmas 2011. Anytime before that makes no sense with Killzone 3 on the way.

That would be just silly.

Looking forward to seeing what they do with the franchise. I do love that image at the top of this article. Such an iconic graphic for a PS3 game. Looks lovely in 1080p when it’s showing as the background on the XMB.

agreed, Shuman Co-op is something special. Shame they didn’t release more DLC for R2 co-op, shame!
Prefer R1 to R2 though even though technically, R2 was superior.

Not really. R2 was released in 2008

Why is it? Resistance 2 was released in November 2008, so it’ll have been 2 and a half years since the last installment. Thats a good amount of time between games.
Unless you mean it’s been too soon since resistance:retribution, but thats on a different platform.
Anyway, looking forward to Resistance 3, hope this it true.
