Split Screen Possible In LittleBigPlanet 2

It’s looking likely that with enough skill, LittleBigPlanet 2 users will be able to create split-screen games for up to four players – and it’s all down to ‘divergent cameras.’

During Play Magazine’s exclusive studio visit to Media Molecule, technical director Alex Evans and creative director Mark Healey had the following to say;

“Now playing online – and this may sound rather techy and boring – you can have divergent cameras.

This means people playing on different machines can be looking at different parts of the world.”

It’s already been proven that First Person Shooter style games can be created in LittleBigPlanet 2, as one creator has already made a Space Harrier type game using the tools, and possibly some sort of black magic.  Applying these divergent cameras could essentially turn whatever you have created into a split screen multiplayer.

Update: It has been pointed out, by Media Molecule, that this is not technically split screen. Rather, online players will each be able to have their own camera and thus their own viewpoint. Still technically impressive but not all on the one screen. Thanks for the heads up MM! [PC]
