According to PlayStation’s Community Team Moderator Bambaroo, the PSN will ‘go down‘ between 8am [BST] and 9pm [BST] next Monday, the 30th of August.
“During this maintenance period,” says the post on the EU PlayStation forums, “you will be unable to access the PlayStation Store or Account Management.” Sounds like you’ll still be able to play games, but won’t be able to buy anything from the Store.
Posters on the forum are hoping this fixes reported Trophy syncing problems.

bit of an odd time to do maintenance, on a bank holiday? Surely it would be better to put it off a day? I know it only affects minimal services, but still………
GhostViper
Remember that us out there in europe don’t have bank holiday :) (as far as I know).
slates16
yep no bank holiday in Ireland :(
hazelam
but some of us do, and scheduling downtime for when one of the bigger markets in europe has a collective day off work is monumentally stupid, at least it is if it stops people playing online.
Vaile23
i agree with the above. stupid timing.
gazzagb
SCEJ set what the maintenance times are, not SCEE apparently.
homerjnick
Source?
lemming64
Ugh, worst timing evah!
cc_star
As long as you can still play games else that is the worse timing ever
Bilbo_bobbins
Maintenance for sorting out the hackers?
Dazbobaby
My thoughts exactly. Putting a banning system in place eh?
Bilbo_bobbins
this has to be something to do with it. I would of thought something would be in a firmware, but I guess they have to deal with things their end too?

Can’t access the PSN Store or Account Management, so you’ll still be able to play online just fine.
bunimomike
Yeh, but bank holiday, fella. The very time people spend extra cash on shopping (online/offline), meals out, etc. The update could’ve surely been delayed another 24 hours. Oh well. At least you can still game.

Half the country will be on the motorways, and half the student population will be travelling back from some music festivals then sleeping for 3 days solid.
Surely any purchase spikes would actually be on the Saturday?

Can you clarify the time. It says FROM 8am AND 9pm. Is that a typo and it should be between or is it two maintenance windows? In the latter case, any idea how long?
Bilbo_bobbins
it’s from 8am to 9pm.

Thank you sir
tonycawley
It says between 8am and 9pm. Fairly clear i’d say.
Danza Di Fuoco E Ghiaccio
Hmm I don’t mind I haven’t played a game online besides Littlebigplanet…

Awesome, I love bank holiday train delays and traffic jams.
Now Sony have decided to jump on the band wagon and make things worse.
Topgearsam
as long as i can play games online its no big deal
BrendanCalls
I can live a day without Account Management and the Store. As long as online play is still available all is fine and dandy.

Noooo, I need to change my avatar every hour

Will be a pain for everyone who get Mafia II on the bank holiday but can’t get the DLC.
Forrest_01
Very good point, I hadn’t thought of that!
Note to self – Buy Mafia 2 on Friday & make sure it is all Dlc’d up before the weekend!
gazzagb
Bit annoyed about the Store going down, but aslong as online play is still up, Im happy.
