This Wednesday update malarkey is still catching me off guard, anyway this week’s gaming goodness is detailed below.
Before we get into the details, there is a surprise inclusion for PS Plus subscribers with the exclusive week early release of the R.U.S.E. demo, as has happened in the past the demo will be available to download from the PS Plus section of the store, or for the lazy amongst us will be pushed to your console if you have Auto Downloads enabled.
This week’s goodness contains Shank, Joe Danger trial and unlock, Pixel Junk Racers 2nd Lap, Motorstorm 3D Rift and of course the new MAG Beta client.

I thought the game was mediocre. I hoped PSN would finally have its ‘Trials HD’ type game, but they went ahead and threw a load of rubber hammers and squeeky toys at it. Adding a ‘jump’ button and ‘street fighter like’ stunt controls. If that’s your thing, you defo should get it ;)

Top game and definitely worth a download. It starts off easy, gently helping you to learn the basics. The latter stages are obviously tougher but not frustratingly. The depth of the game lies in its requirement for you collect all of the tokens awarded for completing tasks within each level, thus making you really practice and spend time on a level before moving on to the next.
Great fun!

sounds fun, I’m gonna give it a go.

Joe Danger is very charming – simple to play and in the latter stages, difficult to master. A lot going in in this game for the money in my opinion.

@TSBonyman
That’s because you’re downloading the game as the trial… If you want to purchase it, it will prob be just a 6kb unlock key

oops missed shank
been interested from trailers, looking forward to trial

I understand that cc_star but it’s a much bigger file than i expected considering the visuals. I guess it must be the cutscene videos.
Having played the trial, i liked almost everything about the game except that i felt the controls weren’t as responsive as i would like them to be.

Mafia 2 is not yet cold out of the factory and there’s allready a new mission for it to download at 7 euro’s? Doesn’t this give some people the feeling of beeing ripped off for buying the game so soon?
Weird..but this seems common practice with new games nowadays..

yep, its a piss take IMO. I have yet to buy ANY extra maps or missions for a game, and i don’t think i ever will. If they can release DLC then it should be in the game to begin with. Even worse when the DLC is all ready on the disk and you just buy the unlock code!!!

According to the EU Blog, this DLC is free with the game (there’s a pack-in code for it) – it’s on the store for people who buy the game used who want to buy it.

The DLC is free if you buy the game new. A code is on the box. It’s not free of you get the game 2nd hand. It’s also exclusive to PS3.

Aha, well that at least justifies the price for DLC then.
And a smart move to make secondhand purchases less interesting. I wonder how many out there buy games with the idea of selling them once they’re done with ‘em. And what they think of this policy.

Yeah I heard that, does this dlc include the ability to continue playing in the city after the you complete the game? And is this exclusively for playstation 3. I get confused sometimes :(

I could be wrong but I think people who bought Mafia2 brand new get this DLC for nothing. This is similar to the VIP code on BC2 for people who bought it preowned.

Apart from the R.U.S.E. demo, not too much for me this week. I’m waiting rather impatiently for the next bunch of Red Dead DLC.

On a totally unrelated note is your TSA avatar Repton? Kudos if it is. I’m still waiting for a decent remake I can get my hands on for these games. Have it on iphone but clunky interface (if it’s not Repton then feel free to ignore and back away from me in a fearful manner!)

Yup, sure is.
I knocked it up on the 3D Dot game heroes character creator site.
I know that flash versions of them all exist, as does Strykers Run.

Is the Pixel Junk Racers 2nd lap available free to people who bought the 1st game?

yes

even if you buy the 1st game now?

doesn’t matter DeathByNumbers, both are the same price and the 1st will get taken down when they update.
