Proving the old adage that there’s no smoke without fire, Media Molecule have now confirmed that LittleBigPlanet 2 will not make its original release window of late 2010. Sackboy and friends will now return in January 2011.
The news came by way of an announcement on LittleBigPlanet.com.
“We’ve all been working like powered-up space ninjas and we’re almost there, but because we love what we’ve made, and we love our little sack-friends, and most of all we love all our fans out there, we couldn’t let you all get together until we knew we were giving you the best experience imaginable. Which is why we’ve taken the hard decision to delay the worldwide release of LittleBigPlanet 2, originally slated for later this year to January 2011.”
Contrite about the unfortunate delay, Media Molecule have stated that they are looking at more ways to give people a taste of LBP2 before its eventual launch. Sound like more beta time to us.

Absolutely gutted over this one :(
*sigh* well, a little less money spent this year, and I’ve got to save a little more for next year…
Still can’t wait for this to come out. It’s going to be crazily awesome.

Hmm, this or mass effect 2, tough descisions.

Two Worlds 2.

Extend the beta (time wise and number wise) and everyone will be happy.

From the sound of the responses to the comments on the EU Blog they are looking to do just that in the run up to Christmas…
emekcrash
I wont be, because I’m not in it…
emekcrash
And I will NOT be in it. I just know, its my luck.

From my experience of the beta it most definately isn’t ready for release. I’ve played it 5 or 6 times and I’ve had 5 or 6 crashes and some severe framerate issues. Thank goodness for the beta, although it does sound like they’re going to launch a demo/open beta before Christmas.
djhsecondnature
Well it is a beta, and that code is two months old (from when it was released) – or so I’ve heard. Only had a few small bugs myself.

I’m guessing the framerate issues come where you’re using the cylindrical tool to lay down material. If you un-pause it it’ll run smooth, otherwise it jutters.
Crazy_Del
I had no issues but I did get stuck one time had to restart it other than that it was fine, had some fun playing it though.

So dissapointed…it’s all Call Of Duty’s bloody fault…

You do know LBP did not delay it because of CoD. They delay it as it felt unfinished, and they want what’s best for us, the LBP Fans.

This seems like a massive blow – LBP2 is the perfect family game and was on a lot of Christmas Lists already (my nephews included), it should have been the poster boy of Sony’s christmas lineup!
This is probably going to be a costly delay for Sony and I can’t believe they don’t have the spare resource to get it out a month earlier – LBP2 is ideal Christmas present material and now a lot of potential casual buyers will probably defer the purchase to their childs birthday when it’ll already be in the bargain bins.
Obviously the ‘hardcore’ PS3 gamers wouldn’t mind the decision, but there as a big casual market for this game too…
I wonder if they will still market it in the run up to Christmas?
hazelam
it’s a shame it’ll miss christmas, because it’d make an ideal prezzie.
dude90
Looks like just GT5 during Xmas, I was looking forward to it as well.
PlayDude77
Oh man, that’s too bad. It would make a perfect xmas present.
However i prefer that Mm take a little more time to polish the game and make it a truly wonderful gaming experience! :)
rht992
please please say there are powered up space ninjas in the game!
NotALegend
