Proving the old adage that there’s no smoke without fire, Media Molecule have now confirmed that LittleBigPlanet 2 will not make its original release window of late 2010. Sackboy and friends will now return in January 2011.
The news came by way of an announcement on LittleBigPlanet.com.
“We’ve all been working like powered-up space ninjas and we’re almost there, but because we love what we’ve made, and we love our little sack-friends, and most of all we love all our fans out there, we couldn’t let you all get together until we knew we were giving you the best experience imaginable. Which is why we’ve taken the hard decision to delay the worldwide release of LittleBigPlanet 2, originally slated for later this year to January 2011.”
Contrite about the unfortunate delay, Media Molecule have stated that they are looking at more ways to give people a taste of LBP2 before its eventual launch. Sound like more beta time to us.

It’s a real shame, but eventually it is the right decision. It’s a day 1 purchase for me anyway but I see them losing a lot of sales because it’s not out by Christmas. All those poor kids will be stuck playing other puny games

At least they didn’t delay it just a few days before the original release date this time. I understand the reason of course, and it’s good that they try to make it as perfect as possible, but… I can’t wait!! :)

The original LBP was hugely affected on its release by several big sequels (i think WaW was out almost simultaneously and the cod4 crowd where dyig for some new action) and as a result was a £9.99 game within 6 or so weeks .
Its only sensible to release it at a more quiet period this time .

Though I’m glad to hear that they are polishing the game instead of rushing it out, this is still disappointing. This was my most anticipated game this year :(

For sony early next year is really cramped 2 games a month for some months they need to seperate some of these up and I want to play all of these.

I guess something big cropped up during the beta, well that’s what betas are for. It’s a shame but it makes sense to delay it until everything is sorted.
