GT5 Delayed

News just in: Gran Turismo 5’s release date been pushed back to the “Holiday Season” – or Christmas Time to you and me, according to the US PlayStation Blog.

Now it’s not been said whether this applies to all regions, but from the quote below it seems more than likely.

We can confirm that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available this November 2nd, but the game’s release will be coming this holiday season.

We sincerely apologize to GT fans for the delay, however, creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating the perfect racing experience, and we are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches.

We’ll have more information for you in the near future

Damn that Kaz and his perfectionism.

Update: the Japanese version is delayed too.  We’re expecting news of a corresponding EU delay shortly.

Update 2: SCEE has confirmed that the European date is delayed too, with no new date yet for our local version.  Expect a press release soon.

Update 3: SCEE’s told TheSixthAxis that the game will still be released “before Christmas” and apologise for the delay, echoing the US statement.

We are sorry to say that Gran Turismo 5 will not be available on the previously announced release date of November 3rd, but the game will be released before Christmas.

We sincerely apologise to GT fans for the delay, however creator Kazunori Yamauchi and the team at Polyphony Digital want to make certain they are creating a racing experience of the highest quality. We are confident that this ambitious game will exceed expectations when it launches later this year.

  1. If it’s for Christmas sales then that’s stupid.
    If it’s a bug then… this http://www.thesixthaxis.com/2010/10/03/sunday-thoughts-delayed/. Maybe.

  2. This is almost certainly gonna be worldwide. However, prepare for massive hilarity if it’s just the US.

  3. Nooooooooooooooo
we all knew it was too good to be true
Waited so long for this another month or two or three won’t hurt,it better be worth it.

  4. But we were so closeeee! >:[

  5. Need for Speed for the win!!

    • *dropkicks Dan into the wall* GT5 will rule lol

  6. That’s it. I am going to punch Kazunori Yamauchi right in the nuts

  7. Oh come on …… delaystation !!!! I bet this will affect us to

  8. who didnt see that coming? this game will never be released *cries*

  9. Great, something I didn’t want to hear on my birthday. How bad can today get?

  10. you know what? f**k gt5. im not getting it. youve just lost a customer Kaz.

    • No he hasn’t. We all know that’s an empty threat. ;)

      • no im serious. if the EU date is pushed back then im not getting it. we’ve all bin waitin for too long. i dont even like racing games, i was only getting this one because it is supposed to be ‘perfection’. well a ‘perfect’ game is a game that we dont have to wait like 5 years for a release.

      • We haven’t been waiting 5 years. We’ve had GTHD, GT5P, GTPSP, and we just have to wait a little longer for GT5, that’s a reasonable amount of games in 5 years. Plus having to build GT5 from scratch, takes a long time.

      • but waiting all this time really doesnt seem worth it. i played on it at eurogamer on a car that wasn’t ‘premium’ and so when i crashed, nothing happened. pretty stupid for a racing SIMULATOR. anyway watever. il just stick to playing smackdown vs raw. they might not be the best games ever, but at least im guaranteed a new one every year

      • A new one every year, is that not bad.

    • You wont be buying Duke Nukem Forever either then?

      • ive never played a duke nukem game before. so who knows?

      • Ahh bless, he’s only a bambino! 5 years is a long time for young people. It could be half his entire life!!
