The latest Games Master magazine has picked up on a story that first surfaced over a month ago centering around a possible remake of Halo: Combat Evolved.
When we originally looked at the story, which initially came from an Italian website, the only source was “someone close to Microsoft Game Studios” and cited Microsoft’s 343 Industries as being behind the project. A remake of the original Halo, in full 3D, would then sit inbetween Halo: Reach and a potential 2012 release of Halo 4.
Today, though, CVG has said that the aforementioned magazine (which shares the same publisher as the site) is repeating pretty much the same information, which has meant the story has begun circling again around the internet.
“If true,” says CVG, “the remade Halo: Combat Evolved could release on the original’s tenth anniversary, which falls on November, 2011.” The original story suggested the remake would be out a little earlier than that, in March.
Halo: Combat Evolved was a recent subject of our Modern Masterpiece series, and was available last Friday for just 400 points.

I figured they would do spin-offs and such. It seemed like the main Halo story ended with the trilogy… I suppose they could find the Chief again. Exciting!

game boy – what sort of useless comment is that? MS want to do a HD remake then leave them to it. Sony are doing HD makeovers and we’re all happy to revisit great games from an older generation console.
Hell, even Nintendo will be doing HD makeovers when they have a console that does HD. :-)
No ones ripping anyone off. All the consoles are a variation on a theme or they’d most likely not be consoles in the first place. Same goes for games too.
