Portal 2 Coming In April

EA Partners and Valve have come together today to announce that their upcoming First Person Puzzler, Portal 2, will launch on April 21st for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC and Mac. Earlier this month Portal 2 took the award of 2011’s most anticipated title at the Spike VGA’s, beating off heavy contenders Batman, Bioshock, and Gears of War.

The sequel to the charming cult-classic comes as a more rounded package, with a bounty of complex puzzles and gameplay mechanics. Portal 2 will also include a co-operative campaign with seperate story, promising to be one of the innovative experiences in modern gaming.

Portal 2 is Valve’s most innovative title in the company’s history and will be launched with a first-class launch campaign this April,” said Doug Lombardi, vice president of marketing at Valve. “We’re excited to be working with Electronic Arts to deliver this title as we expand our platform strategy to include the Mac and PlayStation 3 platforms.”

During Sony’s E3 conference this year, Valve director Gabe Newell made a surprise appearance to announce the game, stating that the PlayStation 3 version would be superior to the rest. Hopefully we will find out exactly what he meant, in the coming months prior to Portal 2’s release.

  1. After buying and completing Portal again yesterday, I don’t think I could be more excited for Portal 2!
Interesting to hear Gabe saying it will be better on the PS3, normally Valve are anti-PS3.

    • Im Hyped for this really cannot wait too play this game!

  2. This is my Game to look forward to in 2011. Not owning a PS3 has taken Uncharted 3 out of the race…

  3. Great, not only do we get to play Portal 2 then but Valve can get back to developing Half Life 3!

  4. But is the cake still a lie? sorry someone had to say it.

I really want to get this, but i might not be able to get this.

  5. Good good, cant wait.

  6. Oh boy. Day before my birthday. Boyohboyohboy. That’ll make a fine gift.

heh heh, portal ‘beat off’ batman

  8. “Gabe Newell made a surprise appearance” he must’ve smelled the complimentary buffet.

  9. Can’t wait for this – seperate co-op mode sounds like it should have some brlliant puzzles which need like multiple portals! Can you imagine you using the portals to build momentum then throwing yourself up to a portal your friend has made or something? That would be class.

  10. My jaw hit the floor when Gabe came out at the Sony conference this year – especially considering that up until then I’d resigned myself to probably never playing Portal 2 (for me there aren’t enough reasons to warrant me buying another console, and my PC would never be up to scratch). Still just as excited, though it does now mean that the first four months of 2011 each have at least one game that I really want to buy on day one. Something tells me my wallet isn’t going to like next year all that much…
