People who are interested but aren’t massive fans buy the standard edition and the ones who are massive fans (and can afford it) buy the collectors editions.
As far as I know collectors editions were always aimed at the ones who are really into the respective game (over and above being a money spinner).
Me, I’m just a sap for anything that says “collector” or “limited”

Yep, I made my mistake with the God of War 3 collectors edition in the pandora box. Didn’t pick it up at the time because I didn’t have the cash but then it sold out. Gutted. Won’t make the same mistake again.
