Zeit2 started life as a kind of demo to get its creator on to a games programming course at his local college. The German studio (Brightside Games) have taken their rough concepts, with a few alterations, and gone from a quick three-day prototype at the start of a college course to a fully-fledged XBLA title.
Zeit2 is a side-scrolling shoot-em-up with that bloom-ridden neon style which is so encapsulating and successful for games like flOw and Geometry Wars. This isn’t just another bullet hell side scroller though. Zeit2 has another little trick up its glowing sleeve. Players must use the nifty rewind function to travel backwards through time and assist their future self in taking down the enemies.
It sounds (and looks) like Ikaruga crossed with Geometry Wars and sprinkled with a little Braid. A promising mix indeed. Zeit2 is available now for 800MSP.

Am I the only one who thinks that the XBox icon next to the headline looks like a grumpy teddybear cyclops?

Ah, I always see it as a vulture from the side (hence one eye).
Regarding the game, interesting use of Braid-like time manipulation. Not for me but still, hope it turns out good.
