The Killzone 3 hype train continues on today, and with awesome videos like this surfacing, I’m more than happy to keep fanning the flames.  The offering below shows you over 3 minutes of multiplayer gameplay from the ‘Bilgarsk Boulevard’ map and appears to be focusing on some of the in-game rewards you can earn.  It looks like these ‘ribbons’ work kind of like killstreak rewards, but it doesn’t seem like you always have to be on a streak to earn them.  They offer all kinds of benefits ranging from silent footsteps to faster reloading and aiming.

I know a lot of people have spoken out about how killstreaks naturally make the game unbalanced by enhancing players that are already doing well, so it’s nice to see Guerrilla going in a little different direction.  These benefits are more about small personal gains rather than huge air strikes and game-ending tactual nukes.  It’s going to be interesting to see how well it plays once the final game is in everyone’s hands.

Don’t forget that the Killzone 3 open beta is starting back up on February 3.

  1. I am officially at “can’t wait” status for this game. There is so much going on in the match and the graphics, even for multiplayer, are stellar. Pre-ordered and shaking with anticipation.

  2. I really hated the controls in KZ2… But I still own it, and I’m probably going to get KZ3 too. The eye candy.. Such a beautiful[ly detailed] game. :)

    • I’m guessing it was the slower movement you’re refering too? There’s a number of control-schemes available in the options, I’m using an alternate one that’s a bit more like the MW2 controls (aim on L1, among other things, feels more natural too me), to keep me from being as confused when I swap between them.

  5. Am I seeing right? Red versus green? Surely they must go through some quality control for these games, QC which looks at issues like epilepsy, colour blindness… Red-Green colour blindness is one of the most common forms. Could they not think about yellow versus blue?

This is a shame as the game looks great but I’ll really struggle to differentiate teams and in this sort of game fractions of seconds matter.

  6. looks good, the blue tracking icons on the opponents seems to make it easier for people like me, but i think it would be better as a ‘lose’ streak… give the lesser players a little help to keep the match competitive

    • It’s an ability of the tactician class, each class has dif abilities, for me it’s all about the engineer :)

  7. Does anyone know if this is a new Beta download or can I just use the one from the + subscription?

  8. When you say the beta is coming back up, is that still just for P+ subscribers or for everyone on PSN?

I don’t have it and would love to get some practice in before the game releases.

  10. A good game of bodycount on Killzone 2 always made you feel that you were fighting in a proper large-scale battle.
