PSP Re-releases Planned For NGP

Whilst last week’s NGP announcements mentioned that PSP games would be appearing on the NGP via digital distribution, Andriasang are now reporting that Sony are planning to re-release old PSP games on the NGP’s new card-based format. Nothing more than that has been said, although Sony did mention that due to rights issues some games may never appear on the NGP.

  1. Errr can’t think of any great titles… I’d rather see them port PS3 games instead.

    • Really?

personally I thought the PSP has some excellent games such as; Killzone Liberation, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Portable Op’s, LoccoRocco, Crisis Core, God of War (Both of them!) Echoshift, Valkyria Chronicles 2, to name but a few!

      • A few of those have better versions on the PS3. The games I had for my PSP were mostly PSP versions of PS3 games (Pro Evo, GT, F1 etc.).

      • Don’t forget the GOW games

      • erm…the ones I mentioned were PSP exclusives…

  2. That just seems silly, i know there is not much that Sony can do about it, but I’d have thought developers and publishers would jump at the chance to get what is potentially a new lease of life on a dated game

  3. I think they should offer a trade in, your old PSP game for the new format for free, to make it seen like it so backwards compatible instead of having to debug everything.
Inshallah continue to dream however :)

    • Apparently they are looking into methods of making it so you dont have to re-buy games you own. Although they said that with the PSPgo too.

      • Got link? I’d be keen to hear about that!

    • A bit late, but still.. There a way to many typos in my comment:
      *seem like
      Instead of having to *rebuy
      * I shall continue

    • Why would they offer a trade-in program? for the PSP Go, I could almost understand that expectation (even then, not really). But the NGP is a new console, not a simple update. And if you’ve purchase digital PSP games off the store they will work. I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect Sony (or any company) to give you free games when they release a new console. If you still have UMD’s that you want to play then play them on your PSP.

      • Yep. But it may be good business to offer a discount. 50% off the NGP version if you trade in an umd. That way they will get a little profit out of a lot of people, instead of no profit from the ones that keep their orgiginal PSP to play the old games.

Expecting a free trade in from third party publishers is foolish, but SCE may offer some if they decide they need to to sell the hardware.

  4. Lumines. Ta.

    • I’ll second Lumines with Mercury sans gyroscope control.

      • sans? as in without? I would’ve thought mercury would be really suited to sixaxis control

      • You have just highlighted exactly how I earned my F in GCSE French. In fact it’s a surprise I got that!

Next time I’ll try to be less poncey and use English.

    • Agreed. If I could choose only one, It’d be Lumines, I cant remember the last time something different was in my PSP. It’s a fantastic game and I even play it on PS3 regularly.

  5. Loco Roco and the GoW games would be good.

    • Why GoW, it managed well with one nub?

  6. Some Monster Hunter would be nice.
    :)

  7. Redo Pursuit Force 1&2, or do a sequel and i’ll buy them/it day 1 :)

    • Are they any good? I got one of them free with my Go but haven’t even bothered booting it up yet.

      • I only have the 1st 1 atm (2nd 1 is on its way).
The 1st one can be quite challenging and the on-foot sections are a tad iffy, but it’s really good fun. Jumping between cars to get the bad guys never gets old imo.
I think you have Extreme Justice (the sequel). Give it a go. I think you’ll like it :)

  8. Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core
    Patapon 1&2
    Loco Roco 1&2

  9. R&C Size matters and Resistance retribution would be nice.

  10. Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core

Would love to see that as a download…

    • I would to. Would love to play it on my psp go.
