After oohing and aahing at the recent cut-scene footage of L.A. Noire – snippets of scenes showcasing Team Bondi’s sublime motion capturing technology – it’s time to get a look at the game in action.
Presented below, check out the first in-depth gameplay video for a look at how the game employs your “detective skills, intuition and cunning” to “make or break each case.”
Entitled “Orientation”, the motley array of in-game scenes depicting witness interrogation, fisticuffs and the game’s shooting mechanics all suggest another mega-hit on Rockstar’s hands.

Does look good, but with everything ive seen the heads dont seem to sit right on the bodies…probably becuause of the face/voice motion capture being done seperately from the body motion capture making them ‘off’ when combined in action sequences

It must be me, but I just can’t get excited over this game.

Hate Rockstar? Next you’ll tell me you didnt like GTA Vice City!

I’ve also started disliking R* mainly for churning out the same game just with different skins. This one looks a little different though, and that facial motion tech business actually looked quite impressive.

Love Vice City, one of my all-time faves, sadly everything since then is just a gradual evolution – this looks like a revolution

@bg
you have no idea what you’re talking about, comparing Red Dead to CoD, lost all credibility there.

Well then, stick to the Flowers and the Fl0ws then, a game doesn’t have to do something new to be good, its how its done that matters.

It’s not just you, I was hoping for something different from R*, but this is just GTA in another time period.
I did like San Andreas, but since then they’ve been pants.

I’m the same. The detective work looks interesting but the rest feels to GTAish. Loved Vice City but couldn’t get into any other GTA games since that.

to you it doesn’t but to most it would mean it has credibility.

Motion Scan looks like it could be just about the biggest tech leap this gen, phenomenal.
Actual believable characters that don’t have nothing going on behind the eyes and a black hole for a mouth. The facial animation has a real impact on gameplay, its the first time I’ve seen anything like it that wasn’t part of an elaborate cgi clip, & to be honest the facial animation & lip syncing was much better than even pre-rendered stuff.
Heavy Rain meets GTA?

thats what it reminds me of, I didn’t realise it was all new tech, and I have to be honest I wasn’t majorly over whelmed by the graphics. I must be having a bad day lol

I was not impressed at all with Heavy Rain’s attempts. Every time a character looked blankly towards another character I was brought back sharply into my living room.
I look forward to the day when DICE’s new Frostbite engine with all it’s fancy lighting becomes integrated with the Euphoria physics engine and Motion Scan, all in one chimerical package.

thats my thoughts exactly. the animation is amazing. developers should stop trying to get thier graphics just that bit better and focus on the stories and the emotions players have towards the characters

Becoming much more interested in this now. The animation is mind blowing. Very clever method they have used to capture every expression the actor makes.

Wonder if the PS3 version is going to be behind the 360 version in graphics/performance again?

The game was a PS3 exclusive for a very long time. It’s lead on PS3 and ported to 360. Both versions will prob be the same or the PS3 version might be slightly better. It’s almost guaranteed to be on multiple disks on 360.
