European Journey Beta Starts In July

At the risk of TSA turning into a Journey beta news site, we’ve just been told that the European beta for the game won’t start this week alongside the US-based test.

Instead, we’re reliably informed that it kicks off on in July.

We’re expecting to hear officially on this from SCEE via the PlayStation Blog, as normal, but until then don’t be holding out much hope for the current beta.

Trust us, it’s worth the wait.

Update: the EU Blog has confirmed that a European beta will start in July.

“As mentioned over on the US PlayStation Blog,” says Alex Pavey – European Product Manager, “a small-scale closed beta trial will be taking place in the coming weeks, to test Journey’s innovative and unusual multiplayer functionality.”

“Whilst it’d be amazing to open this out to everyone out there who’s excited about Journey, unfortunately numbers need to be kept very limited for technical reasons.”

“But as it progresses, this trial will be extended into SCEE – the existing Beta Trial community and selected PlayStation Plus members will receive invitations in early July. Look out for more information about selection criteria and timings soon.”

  1. Love that the US beta* is going to early adopters of Flower, whereas the EU beta* is going to the closed beta testing group & a fe PS+ users

    *Promotional demo

    • What the smegging smeg are you on about? The “the closed beta testing group” – which includes me – are not allowed to talk about any game we beta so it is no way a promotional demo. How is it promotional when we cant talk about it?

The closed beta group do actual beta testing, there are forums hidden away on PlayStation.com that non-official beta testers cannot see which have pages upon pages of bug reports, errors, glitches, suggestions and fixes.

      • Yeah, I’m part of that too. It’s hardly a demo, more like a PSN-based playtesting scheme. I’ve had stuff through it that’s gone from completely unplayable to perfect over a few months of testing.

      • Or not, in the case of the Brink beta :) I’m suprised how much Dead Nation changed since the beta tho.

  2. Just read the EU blog. Could someone explain who the ‘Beta Trial Community’ are?

    • Sony’s own Beta testers who get emailed codes for all the first party stuff. I’m a card carrying member. Just without the card.

    • See above. People who found a link on PLaystation.com four years ago and quickly signed up. It was a one shot deal, you can’t sign up anymore.

    • Ah right. Was wondering what they were on about.

    • It’s a special group, set up to antagonise the rest of us… :(
