Cloud gaming service, OnLive, has announced that it will be launching in the UK on 22nd September at Eurogamer Expo 2011.
There will be over 100 “top tier” games to buy/rent/trial, as long as your broadband speed is up to the task. OnLive will also be giving out free microconsoles at the Eurogamer Expo this year. These little beauties will allow you to play the games on your HD TV.
That’s fantastic; GUESS WHO’S NOT GOING TO EUROGAMER THIS YEAR? I’ll give you a clue: he’s writing this article, and currently in a right strop.

I was quite excited when OnLive was first announced but the pricing strategy has completely killed my interest.

I must admit I haven’t seen much about the pricing. What is wrong with it?

Standard prices are poor, however they have some very attractive sales and the $10 a month sub offers great value if you’ve not played a % of the games. I’m pretty sure this will be the perfect solution for me me at home both on the tv and iPad (when mrs flatspikes needs the tv).

To all people who go? Hmm i might just get a ticket now…

Not everyone attending will get one. They reckon about 1 in 3

Ive been using OnLive for a while now from the UK. I havent bought anything cause i dont have a US address, but it has been good to see new games as they come out, and watch other poeple play them. It reminds me of when i was a young boy watching people play at arcades. I could to that for hours!

Very intriguin, I’ll take a visit to see OnLive I think

I’ve been using it for a while, but the service doesn’t really do what it says on the tin.
The quality is crap on my connection, but their biggest problem is the list of available games. It’s a lot less than I’d expect for a service like this.

i think i will get this ive been playing it from the UK and it runs great on my connection its amazing how you can just jump into any game instantly ive been playing Metro 2033 and it looks great

Never tried this but will keep my eyes peeled.

Uhh, is it ISP-locked or for anyone? Any contracts and stuff?

Good question. BT have exclusive rights to offer Onlive as part of a bundle – eg phone,tv, internet – but anyone can buy Onlive as a stand alone product from a shop.
Or they could buy 231 cupcakes instead. Yum.
