Happy Gears of War 3 day! After a solid three hour session on it last night I can quite happily confirm the game is everything I hoped it would be. I also have sore eyes and a nervous twitch as Gears is relentless.
Those wanting more will be pleased to hear that story DLC has been confirmed (although we knew that already) but, and here’s the interesting part, it won’t feature the members of Delta Squad.
Epic’s Cliff Bleszinski had the following to say:
“We have some DLC that’s coming up. We’ve confirmed we’ll be doing campaign DLC. One thing I can tell you is that you’re not going to see Marcus or Dom or Cole in it. I believe that DLC should be unique and cool, like Lost and the Damned, Gay Tony, Mad Moxie’s Underdome Riot. All those kind of things. DLC’s the place where you play and have fun. So that’s one thing that’s an indication of where things may be going in the future.”
Having read the books there are quite a few areas untouched by the games that I think would make great DLC.

Played campaign for a bit. Feels much more like Gears 1, which is a Good Thing.
Liking it so far, even if I can’t connect with the guys one bit. They’re so damned angry at everything.

It sounds good. It’s not like they have annouced a £30 cosmetic pack…oh right. Now to trick my PS3 into thinking it can play xbox games. Where is that hypotoad when you need him?

Sounds cool, ’tis a shame I don’t have a 360, then again, I wouldn’t buy it for one game. If I was that mental I would probably also buy the gun skins pack. I mean really? Whoever decided that pricing might as well come to my house and spit in my face. Anyway, really enjoyed gears 1, this does look gooood.

I think this is a good thing.
Lets face it, most people thought the single player DLC in Gears2 should have been included in the game (I mean come on, Marcus going “Hey I have an idea to get down the highway but can understand if you want to go loud” and then suddenly … next act. And lo and behold, along comes DLC where you can make the choice.
At least with DLC based on a separate team people can’t accuse Epic of cutting SP content for DLC. Additionally if we’re introduced to a new team via DLC could that be setting up for another series based on a different team as opposed to Delta Squad? Considering this is supposed to be their last adventure as Delta squad
