A somewhat tardy release from the SCEE boys today, with the official list going up a little later than usual, which meant our usually snappy weekly update was postponed too.
There’s a decent amount of stuff for download – Sam & Max being an obvious highlight, and if you’re yet to pick up Dead Island that bundle might be tempting.
Deus-Ex you’ll certainly find cheaper on disk, mind.
Still, it’s a valiant effort with treats all round (just look at all that White Knight Chronicles DLC), and because it’s delayed, we’ll cut right to the chase.

What!? Are you people crazy!? That Deus Ex price is amazing! In my country of Tazubeqistania it would cost us six camels and three virgins. At least I get to keep my camels.
Foxhound_Solid
O_o …. Hahahaha
Forrest_01
What happened to your virgins then?? O_o
SpikeyMikey23
someone say virgins?……..
jbni
I had to sell them to buy Rayman Origins.
Forrest_01
Think i would have preferred the virgins…
Foxhound_Solid
Like the tweak to the look and index of the psn. I’ve had loads of goodies of late so no bother with the lack of stuff this week.
colossalblue
Galaga and Pac-Man, GET!
Seriously, the Pac-Man CE was brilliant and the DX is supposed to be even better but I never got around to it. Awesome!
djhsecondnature
DX Edition is superb!
Forrest_01
I happen to think that £12 for those two games is still just a touch on the pricey side – However, if it comes down to around £8 in a sale, i’ll be all over it. :)

Can anyone please explain to me why the PSN Store is so expensive? Sure, there’s also some decent deals, but every time they launch a big title on PSN Store it’s almost always more expensive if you buy it on the PSN Store, than if you buy it in a store nearby. At least that’s how it is in Norway. And I don’t get it, cause they save money on shipping and stuff, right? Is there any logic to it at all, or is sony just “using” lazy people to earn some extra cash?
Carl
Reasons talked about millions of times. Retailers would throw their toys out of their pram and refuse to sell games. Relations with retailers are of the utmost importance. Therefore 90% of games are priced into the stratosphere on PSN/XBL
nixoz
okey, that makes sense. Still think it’s a bit overprised though…
Forrest_01
To repeat what i mentioned on the first page, those prices are decided by the publisher, not Sony & they usually reflect RRP.
But you raise a good point. If you are lazy, then you may be prepared to spend the extra on the PSN version. If not, just go out & buy the game for cheaper.
Can’t say the pricing of ‘full’ games has ever bothered me though, as i always know where to get them cheaper (usually online) & i rarely have the spare HDD space to waste on a full game that i cannot trade anyway.
Cathaloh
Strongly recommend getting Sam & Max Beyond Time & Space! Best point and click game ever to me (in my opinion)!
Blastiel
I love SCEE, they show so little care for the custmer base and don’t give two shiney poo’s about it.
The excuse for the delay in Blog update was “the guy who does it was off sick”
Seriously? You have 1 person tasked with updating the blog, they phone in and it all goes to pot?
Why does SCEE never get pulled up by ANY of the gaming press for being out and out garbage?
Forrest_01
I understand what you are saying & to some extent i agree, but it’s hardly the end of the world – The store update still went ahead, so what i would have done if this wasn’t reported was just looked for myself. No biggie.
Blastiel
Yeah but tie that into everything else they can’t get right:
Arc the Lad is still missing after they managed to upload the JAP version
Jurassic Park is AWOL
No treats in Novembers Plus
Various PSone games still missing / pulled with no return
People STILL waiting for PayDay codes
….utter joke. :D
Forrest_01
Ah, ok so it was a larger scale complaint than the store update information being late – Sorry, I missed that. :)
I am largely not bothered by what is & isn’t on the store if I am honest, but I can see why some people are as I would be a little annoyed if a game I was looking forward to just didn’t appear for one or another reason.
Not that I need to (& I am certainly not ‘having a go’), but just to address your points;
Arc the lad I have never heard of & have therefore heard no confirmation it would even be coming to other regions.
Jurassic Park I have heard nothing concrete on outside of its original announcement, but I thought I read something recently that mentioned it was still coming at some point (no reasons known by me on this one though).
If you are referring to mid-month treats for plus, I believe that their answer for that one is that it was never promised (which I don’t think it was if I recall correctly), but is something that they do on occasion as a ‘treat’ to plussers. I would say that the best way to treat that is not to expect anything & then be pleasantly surprised when you do get something! :)
PSOne games often have licensing issues which can come down to something as small as a band not releasing the rights to re-use a song track.
You are right with the Payday codes though (i assume as part of that offer where you buy other PSN games & get that one free). People really should have had them by now.
duff_em_up_dave
Most of these prices are a joke.
Dead Island is £22.99 on Amazon. With the Bloodbath DLC at £7.99 on the PSstore, that’s £30.98, with the main game on a disc.
Don’t even get me started on Deus Ex.
Blastiel
To further prove my point SCEE is giving away a game it gave away a few months ago….again. Cheers lads.
