Sony has put up the advert that will be shown in Europe to bring awareness of the PlayStation Vita, which launches February 22nd. The tag line for the campaign is The World Is In Play.

“The campaign celebrates that PS Vita brings the world in to play and brings to life incredible experiences wherever you are connecting to gamers all over the world,” wrote Adam Grant,  PS Vita European Product Manager.

So, a campaign focused more on the social side of the Vita and not much focus on the tech itself, at the moment anyway. Lucky for you we have an entire hub dedicated to all things Vita, so you can have all the information you need to be prepared.

  1. I’ve seen wosre European PS3 adverts when they smear it with god awful graphic design clichés and “hip” music. At least the fact that this was cinematic made it interesting.

  2. Really poor. I mean sure, as a well shot and directed sequence it ticks the boxes. But to sell a new console? Dreadful. What exactly is it? When is it available? What will it cost? What games can I play on it? This ad answers none of those questions.

Even the Kinect ads (which I don’t much care for) show people at least playing/enjoying games, even if they don’t show a lot of the games themselves. The simple but effective approach of straight forward marketing, which Sony seems incapable of grasping. Such a frustrating shame because the console looks fantastic. TELL/SHOW PEOPLE ABOUT IT!

      Exactly.

Which is why it’s so brilliant.

Those answers will come. This isn’t the only ad they will run, but this one sparks people’s interest by being emotive and visually captivating.

  3. I really love the ad, although it doesn’t seem very Vita specific, if they get some shorter Vita console and games ad out there, this campaign will work.
I’d have put the Vita at the end up for longer though.

    • Although, THIS is the ad which should be on our TVs at the moment.
Or, for example, at half-time during the United-Liverpool match, with billions watching worldwide.

      Epic ad is epic.

  4. reminds me of the old PS2/PS3 adverts which were pretty c**p, when it comes to advertising Microsoft really does do it better then Sony

  5. Seems a little late if you ask me. Hope it’s followed up by some game promo adverts.

  6. Its a good ad I think. I think it would make the audience more curious about the product

  8. Sony have released an Uncharted trailer which I believe is to be broadcast from launch onwards: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=U9CJHeGFVTo

It’s similarly love/hate (I for one love this ad direction), but with a gentle seasoning of Vita/gameplay
