Kinect Star Wars is number one in the UK games charts. It was last week’s only major release and has vaulted past EA’s FIFA Street to claim the top spot. EA won’t be too annoyed though, with the other four spots in the top five going to games they publish. Star Wars is the first Kinect-only game to take the top spot.
FIFA Street saw a slight increase in sales to hold on to second place, Mass Effect 3 held even to keep third spot, FIFA 12 saw a 48 per cent sales spike to leap up to fourth and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 13 dropped 10 per cent to leave it in fifth. Presumably, the recently announced Euro 2012 DLC is responsible for that FIFA 12 spike.
Here’s the top twenty:
- KINECT STAR WARS – MICROSOFT
- FIFA STREET – ELECTRONIC ARTS
- MASS EFFECT 3 – ELECTRONIC ARTS
- FIFA 12 – ELECTRONIC ARTS
- TIGER WOODS PGA TOUR 13 – ELECTRONIC ARTS
- CALL OF DUTY: MODERN WARFARE 3 – ACTIVISION BLIZZARD

Proof a game doesn’t need to be any good to ride high in the charts

Haven’t seen one good review for the game.

Wow. The game got slammed by every website in the land and yet the star wars name still manages to get it to number 1.

Just goes to show how marketing and a strong brand name really help sales. Can we expect a TSA review of SWK anytime soon?

I got it this weekend and was hoping to get it done today but I’ve been too busy with other stuff. Perhaps tomorrow.

FIFA 12 is cheap now (£25 in Asda), so that’s probably got more to do with any sales spike.

I bet 2 to 20 sold zero and the top spot is there only because of you, Peter. :-) Your video still frightens me.
