More Sonic 4 Episode II Details Released

In Tails we trust.

SEGA has just released more information and a new trailer for Sonic 4 Episode 2, via the PlayStation Blog.

The trailer shows Sonic and Tails teaming up in various levels, which is to showcase the Collaborative Gameplay feature that will appear in Sonic 4 Episode II. So far three partner combos have been detailed. These include:

Copter Combo – This is where Tails can grab Sonic and fly him up to higher platforms or over obstacles in the game. This feature was present in Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles.

Submarine Combo – As you can guess this will be for the water levels. Tails can now drag Sonic through these levels, though Sonic will still need to collect air bubbles to survive.

Rolling Combo – Sonic & Tails can team up to create a faster and more powerful spin dash and will primarily be used to take on large opponents and to get rid of obstacles that are in the way.

The Collaborative Gameplay will be featured in both single player and multiplayer modes. SEGA has also revealed that Sonic 4 Episode 2 has new graphics and physics engines. The game is set to release in May.

Well I am looking forward to this and think it’s a shame they are abandoning the episodic Sonic games. I liked Ep1 and though Generations was shite

I get that they are trying to bring in some new ideas but the purist in me wishes they would ditch the extra moves and stick to the move and jump controls that made the first couple of games so popular.
