Nintendo’s UK Boss Steps Down

Opportunities outside Nintendo.

Nintendo has lost a number of key executives over the last year. PR boss Rob Saunders, Assistant GM Dawn Paine and Marketing Manager Rob Lowe have all moved on but the departure of David Yarnton is the biggest role yet to be vacated.

Yarnton had been at Nintendo for 20 years, the last 9 of them as General Manager of Nintendo UK. He leaves to “pursue opportunities for a change of career outside Nintendo”. European President, Satoru Shibata will look after the UK until a suitable replacement can be found.

It all seems quite sudden and unexpected, at least to those outside of Nintendo.

  1. Odd timing, with the upcoming new console being released. It would have made more sense to leave after the release of the Wii-U, unless he has negative predictions?

    • Probably just looking for a new change after 20 years of Nintendo.

I’d probably do the same given the choice.

      • Yep. There’s only so much Mario any one man can take. I survived twenty seconds so kudos to him for doing twenty years!
