Sony Kicks Off PSN Store Christmas Sale

Sony have kicked off their ‘festive’ sale today, which actually includes some real crackers in terms of prices – probably better than the 12 Deals Of Christmas thing they’ve been punting of late, anyway.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD is an obvious highlight – despite the new DLC not really living up to expectation for £6 it’s definitely a bargain for fans of the originals.

  1. Some good deals there. Bit odd having discounts for Plus subscribers on games that were free for us a little over a month ago but I guess there might be newcomers who don’t have those games yet.

  2. Hopefuly there will be some drops for the Vita coming soon – I think I might pick up THPS for £6 though, seems rude not to.

    • I apologise for my rudeness :)

    • It’s weird that the second Xmas sale (after 12 deals) is for PS3 again.

I hope there’ll be one for Vita too.

      • Can see Vita’s digital offering being a key push after Christmas, sure that doesn’t help earlier adopters, but Sony have only really just started advertising it properly in the run up to Christmas so they probably expect quite a few to be unwrapped on the 25th… and then they need to monetise those users and hook them into the store.

  3. I think I might pick up KOFXIII, THPS and Crazy Taxi. Slightly tempted to pick up the first Tomb Raider, not sure on that one.

  4. THPS is well worth £6. Typically, I paid £12, but at least I’m not alone. Expect there will be a few even more pissed off fans!

Might get Sonic 4.2. Have 4.1, but no way was it worth a tenner.

  5. Family Guy was on my Xmas list so I’ll have that, thankyou very much.

And I’ll get Ice Age too, but don’t tell anyone! Kids games are about the only games mrs87fez will play with me!

    • Ha! Yeah, I bought Rayman Origins yesterday for the wife to play with me. Also bidding on some Lego games on ebay in the hope she will be interested!

  6. I can’t say no to Tony Hawks for the price of a frail caphalopod.

    • Your sexy talk gets me wet.

      • Hanniepoppy, put him away please! :)

  7. Prototype 2 was in the activision sale a couple of weeks ago and now discounted again! Hope it will be on plus soon.

  8. This is a bit crap. Full price for some games is not a sale and £50 for Spiderman is taking the mick. Usually, a sale consists of prices that have been reduced for a short amount of time, not bunging random games into a “Sale” and charge full price for. If SCEE couldn’t convince the publishers to allow them to reduce the price then they shouldn’t have bothered with those games.

    • None of the games are being charged full price for, perhaps you are looking at the price they were before sale.

    • I agree. Crap. Its hardly making waves with great irresistable discounts. Most of these games will be this price or cheaper in the retail sales after Christmas. Dammit Resistance 3, Space Marine and Rage (all recent titles at the time) were £10-15 last year.

No PSP games, No PSone games, No Vita games, No Minis, No PSM games… need I go on. Of course Sony could change that, but I’m not exactly betting on it. (may be wrong but meh).

The cherry on the topping is that for AU mortal kombat is getting replaced by Lego Batman….PSP version. lol….not.

    • I did miss out a couple of the PSone titles on the list. nvmd…. Still tho No PSP games, No Vita games, No Minis, No PSM games. :P

    • I don’t get it, Spiderman is £23.99 or £21.59 for PS+
where did you get £50 from.

Also, can you pass around what you’ve been smoking please – we could all do with some.

      • @thelonesteve

I thought you only purchase pre owned games? Thus the pricing on this list not having any effect on you?

Defo getting tony Hawke and might even give family guy a crack although it’s ment to be awful

      • I thought what he meant was that you can get spiderman and other games cheaper than what Sony are selling the for: i.e. spiderman on amazon for £20.

Its not much of a discount when the original price is 49.99. Thats like saying hey hey, big deals: 50% off Spiderman wow!!! when I think we are all aware that 23.99 is not getting the pulse going. Just shows the false psychology of advertising.

  9. TEmpted by that Family Guy deal, its cheaper than i can find it anywhere else on the net.
Is it actually any good, anyone?

    • Just read some of the reviews, and my inital temptation has quickly subsided. Sounds abysmal
Money will be better spen on London 2012 and THPS HD I guess

      • I really enjoyed it mate worth it for £20.

      • I’m getting it just for the coop aspect of it. My friend and I are huge McFarlane fans so this is a no brainer. We’ll probably hold out for another while, though. The price should come down in a while.

      • Yeah, so I couldn’t resist… Got a 25 Pounds UK PSN card for 32€ and got Tony Hawk HD and Family Guy. Technically got Tony Hawk HD for free because the prices are more favourable in the UK. :D

    • No

  10. Better get some PSN credit I think! :)
