Podcast: Episode 99 – Iron Man 3, Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and Grid 2

So we roll around to another week of podcasting insanity. As per usual, we kick off with the news, taking a look at the recent Call of Duty: Ghosts announcement (and its disappointing lack of relation to 80’s TV show M.A.S.K.), the recent The Last of Us leak, and the Wii U being hacked.

Then, of course, there’s what we’ve been up to. This week we’ve got Peter talking about Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon and Grid 2, while I chat about the newest entry into the Marvel cinematic universe, Iron Man 3, and give an overview of some indie comics I’ve been reading, as well as ranting about DC’s upcoming Villain’s Month.

Then we’ve got Kev and Lewis, talking about Thomas Was Alone and Cabin in the Woods respectively. We also take a look at the sheer volume of films that Josh Whedon has worked on in the last few years – the man’s frankly ludicrous.

As with every week we wrap things up with the quiz, a general knowledge one this time, and listener questions. There’s some PSN credit on the line for the best question we were asked, so make sure you listen if you sent us a question.

Finally, next week’s our 100th episode. I can’t promise you anything special, but if you have any ideas, then drop us a line.

  • Please send us questions via email to podcasts[at]thesixthaxis.com.
  • You can also tag your questions on Twitter with #tsacast and, provided you’re not on a private account, we’ll see them in our search each week. Finally, as usual, there’s a questions thread in the forum.

This podcast features strong language, jokes in poor taste and adult themes, if you’re offended by that then we recommend that you don’t listen to it at all.

  • As usual, you can grab the MP3 file here (right click to download).
  • You might want to get it (when the RSS catches us) on the RSS feed, here.
  • Or we’re on iTunes, when iTunes feels like updating. You can also leave us a review and subscribe there, if you want to be particularly lovely.

  1. Another good one ^^. gave me a laugh several times through it :D

After so many good things said about Far Cry: Blood Dragon I cannot wait for a GOTY edition of FR3, which will probably include the stand alone DLC. Also, I really need to finish playing Heavenly Sword with my wife, so we can start Thomas Was Alone.

About “Ghost” from Call of Duty: I must say that’s my favourite character in the series (stealthy bad-ass bastard with a cool skull mask, epic) and the way it ends for him…I think since Aeris I’ve never been more pissed off and I literally just wanted to kill Shepherd so badly I could replay the last checkpoint over and over.

  2. My dear colleagues are astounded how young Chris Hemsworth looks in Cabin In The Woods and equally astounded how Joss Whedon managed to film it, Much Ado ABout Nothing and The Avengers at the same time.

The Cabin In The Woods was filmed in May 2009.

  3. Cabin In The Woods is one of the freshest, smartest and weirdest horror comedies I can think of. Its worth watching just for the final half hour of pure insanity.

And thanks for avoiding Iron Man spoilers. Really need to see that.
