More Bad News

The internet is full of debate this morning about the comments made in PSM3 about Fallout 3 looking worse on the PS3 than it does on any other platform.

Obviously it will look best on a high-end PC, everything does so we’ll ignore that but why should it look better on the 360? The only plausible explanation is that Bethesda aren’t putting the work in. The PS3 has more power, more storage capability and more resolution at its disposal than the 360. I know the memory allocations are dealt with a bit strangely but that shouldn’t make a huge difference to displayable textures, it matters more to load times.

So, in my opinion (not necessarily the opinion of TSA) Bethesda are short-changing PS3 owners by not giving them the product that the machine is capable of. That angers me but at the same time I completely understand why: It just isn’t worth putting the development time into the PS3 version because it will not sell enough to make it massively profitable.

Oh, we don’t get trophies at launch either. Splendid.
