Kelly Clarkson may well be the most successful of the various pop acts to have come out of all those reality TV pop talent shows. Since winning American Idol way back in 2002 she has released four albums and now has another accolade to add to her collection; number one on the SingStore top 20.
It is ironic that it is her song Because Of You that replaces Evanescence at the top of the chart as it was co-written and produced by David Hodges and Ben Moody who were both formerly members of Evanescence.
Evanescence’s two tracks My Immortal and Bring Me To Life, both previous number ones in the chart, are both in the top five for the third month running. Evanescence and Pink are like last month the only artists to have multiple entries in the top 20.
Aside from the two tracks by Evanescence two other singles have been in the charts in each of the three months they have been published. These two singles are Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody and Bonnie Tyler’s Total Eclipse Of The Heart. One other artist has appeared in the chart each month, Lilly Allen. The first two months she charted with The Fear but this time it is her follow-up single Not Fair riding high in the top three.
Roxette’s Ballads track pack manages to spend more time in the top ten this month though it is starting to fade like a flower and slides down five places. Ballads is joined in the chart by two more track packs this month. There are evidently plenty of singstars out there who could not wait for the November release of SingStar: Take That and unfortunately it seems that one Ultimate Coldplay collection just was not enough.
With this being the third month that the SingStore top 20 has been posted on the EU Blog it is the first month that a song could be a re-entry. The distinction of having the first re-entry goes to the only band I know of to have had Leonard Nimoy feature in and direct one of their pop videos, with The Bangles’ Eternal Flame making its return to the chart having held eighteenth spot back in May.
