Rumour: PS1 Classics To Get Trophies

Here’s a salty rumour for you. According to a “trusted source”, psnathome are reporting that Sony are looking into the prospect of introducing trophies to PS1 Classics. Quoting “5 to 10” trophies per game, it’s also been suggested that this feature might only be reserved for users of the oft-rumoured PSN Premium service.

Considering the recent Classics which have graced the European store of late (Final Fantasy VII and VIII, Vagrant Story, Metal Gear Solid), would you be more inclined to take a walk down gaming’s memory lane if it bolstered your trophy cabinet?

Once again, treat this as a highly speculative rumour. After all, inserting trophy hooks into existing code is no mean feat. And, let’s face it, the code in question here is buried under a thick layer of dust; the meddling of with quite likely to cause ruptures in space and time as we know it.

Finally, we can only imagine the faces of developers when asked to marry new features with these antiquated codebases. Probably a task for the intern student who smells like Cheetos all the time.
