God Of War III Patched

If you power up God Of War III today you will be prompted to download a glitch busting patch. The 1.01 patch weighs in at a paltry 5MB but fixes a few problems that people have experienced since the game’s launch. The God Of War team have announced in their forums:

As you may be aware, some customers have had issues with their wireless controllers while playing God of War III.  In some cases this has resulted in difficulty opening chests (holding down R1) or jumping/gliding (holding down X).  The problem has occurred randomly in environments where there are multiple Wi-Fi devices within range of the PlayStation 3.  It is not an issue with the PS3 system, but an issue with reading data coming from the wireless controller.  We take a great deal of pride in the smooth responsiveness of God of War III, therefore I’m pleased to report that we’ve taken appropriate steps to fix this problem.

This explains why not everyone has been on the receiving end of Kratos’ woeful double jump skills and R1 performance which spoilt my play through of the game. It is also being reported that the patch fixes the so-called Game+ glitch. There is no word on whether the developers plan to patch-in the ability to continue playing after you’ve finished the game with all your weapons & collectible intact, as has become the norm in most games.
