Battlestar Composer To Score SOCOM 4

Bear McCreary, best known as the composer for hit sci-fi show Battlestar Galactica, will score the music to Zipper Interactive’s upcoming tactical shooter, SOCOM 4.

The news was announced over at the Official PlayStation blog by Zipper’s Community Specialist Chris Roper. The expert crowd-wrangler said:

“We’re pushing the franchise further than it’s ever gone in terms of visuals, storytelling, presentation and, of course, action sequences that will leave your jaw on the floor, all while maintaining SOCOM’s classic tactical focus.

With all that in mind, we wanted to round out the experience with a stellar soundtrack, one that would help define the franchise’s next big release. We’re very excited to announce that the score is being handled by none other than Bear McCreary.”

Not surprisingly, there’s little mention of Dark Void, Bear’s first venture into the treacherous field of composing a soundtrack to a game. Obviously Mr. Roper is well versed in the first rule of making a kick-ass announcement: never bring up anything that might suggest what’s happening is not the best thing since someone figured out you could slice bread.

Head over to the blog to find out how you can win an opportunity to meet Bear and watch him as he actually scores the game during a session. Pretty sure they’re not going to fly us pasty Europeans over, however, but who knows, give it a shot anyway.
