ModNation Racers is a great game, but for everyone that’s just a little bit bored gazing upon the wonderfully named Jimmy Mango on the game’s loading screens (look out for him) can rejoice now, there’s a patch coming next week that’s going to solve all your problems.
According to IGN, the first fix will be to the load times, which, according to Sony, will be reduced by up to 50%. But that’s not all, with United Front Games acknowledging that the “computerized bastards” (IGN’s words) were a little tough, and are introducing a casual difficulty level.
What else? How about the ability to invite friends into XP? Done. Removal of the completely pointless ‘online room’ that sits inbetween races? Done. Network fixes to reduce disconnections? Done. Tweaks to a few of the tougher challenges? Done.
Sounds like one hell of a patch, doesn’t it?

I bought it at launch and gave up on it after a week for those same reasons. I’m delighted to hear this patch is coming and i believe i will be spending more time with MNR from next week on.

I traded mine in, as much as i loved it, i hated it in equal measures because of the reasons above. May find myself rebuying this if the post-patch reports are good.

Haven’t played the game for 2 months due to these issues. May start playing again after the patch.

I think I may be finished with this game. After losing my saves to YLOD, I don’t think I can face playing through this again.

YLOD fix is easy and it gives you more than enough time to backup the data or copy it to a new PS3.

Did the fix, was getting approx three minutes before shutting down. However, anything other than navigating through the XMB (Using triangle, etc) would result in the system freezing instantly.

Do the proper fix with a paint stripping heat gun and silver thermal paste. Mine lasted 4 months after doing that.

kindof been playing other games while awaiting this patch. can’t wait for it. As much fun as I’ve had on it. it did begin to cripple the experience the problems of servers, the load times actually didnt worry me so much as it was the servers. in the end even the loading got to me though. pissed my gf off though

Finally! I still want the ability to pick multiple tracks in splitscreen though instead of having to choose a new track after every race!
